Hottest August in India Records 123-Year Temperature Record The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has confirmed that August 2026 marked the hottest August in the country since 1901, breaking a 123-year-old temperature record. According to IMD data, the average minimum temperature across the nation reached 24.29°C, significantly higher than the normal average of 23.68°C. This unprecedented heatwave was particularly notable in Central India and the South Peninsula, where nighttime temperatures hit record highs, indicating a stark deviation from historical norms. The IMD attributed the unusually high temperatures to a combination of factors, including heavy rainfall and persistent low-pressure systems that disrupted typical weather patterns. Throughout August, six low-pressure zones formed over the country, with one particularly strong system evolving into Cyclone Asna in the Arabian Sea on August 30. These systems contributed to continuous rainfall, preventing nighttime cooling and leading to elevated temperatures. The month also saw a significant increase in rainfall compared to historical averages, with 15.3% more precipitation recorded than usual. This marked the second-highest rainfall for August since 2019, with regions like Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Tripura experiencing record-breaking heavy downpours. While the increased rainfall provided relief to agricultural areas, it also raised concerns about the long-term implications of climate change. Experts warn that the persistent high temperatures and erratic weather patterns are clear indicators of climate change. The inability of nighttime temperatures to drop, due to cloud cover and rainfall, has led to prolonged heat stress, which could impact both public health and crop quality.#rajasthan #gujarat #indian_meteorological_department #tripura #cyclone_asna

Banks Open or Closed on Hanuman Jayanti: Which States Have a Holiday Today? On April 2, 2026, which falls on a Wednesday, Hanuman Jayanti is being celebrated across India. However, according to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday list, there is no official bank holiday on this day. That said, certain states have declared holidays for specific reasons, leading to variations in banking operations. In Kerala, banks will remain closed on April 2 due to the observance of Mundi Thursday, a regional holiday. This decision is based on local traditions and cultural practices. Meanwhile, in other states, banks will operate as usual. The RBI’s holiday schedule does not include Hanuman Jayanti as a national holiday, so most financial institutions will remain open. The holiday schedule for April 2026 includes additional days of closure in several states. On April 3, Good Friday is observed, and banks across the country will be closed except in Tripura, Chandigarh, Assam, Rajasthan, and Jammu-Kashmir. These exceptions are due to local administrative decisions or religious observances. Other notable holidays in April 2026 include: April 14: Banks in multiple states, including Tripura, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Manipur, Rajasthan, Jammu-Kashmir, Kerala, West Bengal, Goa, Bihar, and Jharkhand, will be closed to mark Dr. B.R. Rajasthan Weather Alert: Heavy Rain Expected in These Districts The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in several districts of Rajasthan on 9 July. The most significant impact is expected in the Kota and Bharatpur regions, where heavy to very heavy rain is likely. Lower areas may experience flooding, while small rivers and streams could swell, potentially disrupting rural transportation. Rajasthan’s 9 July will be a critical day for weather conditions. According to the IMD, the active monsoon system will continue to affect the state, with heavy rainfall possible in several parts of eastern Rajasthan. Jaypur, Ajmer, and western Rajasthan will also see moderate to heavy rain, lightning, and strong winds of 40-50 km/h. Meteorologists note that rainfall activity is expected to decrease from 11 July onward, making 9 July one of the most significant days of the active phase. Why is the weather deteriorating? A well-marked low-pressure system in southern-eastern Madhya Pradesh and surrounding areas is influencing Rajasthan. This system is moving northeast, continuously bringing moisture into the state. As a result, cloud density will increase, leading to heavy rain in several districts. Which regions will be most affected? Kota and Bharatpur regions will face the most significant impact, with heavy to very heavy rain expected. Lower areas may face flooding, while small rivers and streams could swell, affecting rural mobility. Udaipur region will also see good rainfall in several districts. Heavy rain in hilly areas could lead to landslides, and areas with strong water flow should remain cautious. Rainfall expected in these cities Jaypur, Ajmer, Tonk, Dausa, Sikar, Alwar, Bhilwara, and Nagaur will see continuous cloud cover, intermittent rain, lightning, and strong winds.#rajasthan #india_meteorological_department #bharatpur #kota #jaypur
Farmers in Rajasthan Can Now Rent Tractors and Modern Farm Equipment, Reducing Costs and Boosting Productivity The Rajasthan government has launched an initiative to provide tractors and modern agricultural machinery on rent to small and marginal farmers, aiming to reduce farming costs and improve productivity. This program, announced through a partnership between the state’s agriculture department and TAFE Jefarmer Services, will allow farmers to access essential equipment without the need for large upfront investments. The initiative is designed to address the financial burden on small-scale farmers while ensuring timely completion of agricultural tasks such as land preparation, sowing, irrigation, and harvesting. Under the new system, farmers can book tractors and other modern machinery through the Raj Kisan Sahithi portal, a digital platform that connects users with available equipment. The portal will streamline the process, enabling farmers to locate nearby machinery and schedule rentals without additional fees. This eliminates the need for farmers to travel extensively to find equipment, saving time and reducing labor costs. The program also integrates with custom hiring centers and farmer producer organizations (FPAs), which will help optimize the use of machinery and expand access to more farmers. The initiative is expected to significantly benefit small and marginal farmers, who often struggle to afford expensive machinery. By allowing them to rent equipment on demand, the government aims to reduce production costs, increase efficiency, and ultimately boost farm incomes. Agriculture department chief Manju Rajpal highlighted that the program’s goal is to ensure that even those unable to purchase machinery can access modern tools during critical farming seasons.#rajasthan #tafe_jefarmer_services #raj_kisan_sahithi #manju_rajpal #custom_hiring_centers

A Farmer's Buried Wealth Reveals a Shocking Tale of Loss A farmer in Rajasthan buried Rs. 5 lakh in a plastic bag in his field after selling land, only to face a heart-wrenching realization a year later. The incident highlights the risks of storing large sums of money in unconventional ways. The farmer had sold a plot of land a year prior, earning the cash to build a house. Concerned about theft, he opted to hide the money in a plastic bag, burying it in a field. However, he eventually forgot the location, and the money remained buried for over a year. During the monsoon season, while preparing the field for sowing, the plastic bag was unearthed. The farmer’s wife and son, who had long suspected the money was hidden, discovered the bag. Inside, the notes were in disarray—torn and damaged by exposure to the elements. The family attempted to exchange the notes at a local SBI branch, but the bank staff refused, citing the severe condition of the currency. The notes were so fragmented that they could not be processed. Desperate, the family sought assistance from the district’s main SBI branch, only to face the same rejection. The incident underscores the vulnerabilities of storing cash in non-bank environments. While the farmer’s intention to protect his savings was understandable, the lack of proper preservation rendered the money unusable. The story serves as a cautionary tale about the importance of secure, bank-issued storage for valuable assets. The farmer’s experience also highlights the challenges faced by individuals who attempt to manage large sums without professional financial safeguards. Despite the emotional weight of the lost savings, the family’s efforts to recover the money reflect a deep-seated hope for redemption.#farmer #rajasthan #monsoon_season #sbi #plastic_bag
