Ghooskhor Pandat to be retitled after backlash; Delhi HC closes plea New Delhi: The makers of the upcoming Netflix film originally titled Ghooskhor Pandat, starring Manoj Bajpayee, have decided to change the film’s title following public backlash and legal objections. The controversy began after the title , combining a word commonly understood to mean “bribe-taker” with a variation of “Pandit,” a term associated with Brahmin priests — drew criticism from sections of the community. Critics argued that the title appeared to link a caste group with corruption and could hurt religious sentiments. A petition was subsequently filed in the Delhi High Court seeking a stay on the film’s release. The plea contended that the title and promotional material were defamatory and could disturb communal harmony. During the hearing, the producers and the streaming platform informed the court that they would change the title and remove existing promotional material carrying the original name. The court then disposed of the petition. The issue also triggered protests and criticism on social media, with some industry bodies reportedly stating that the original title had not received formal approval through standard processes. Earlier, actor Manoj Bajpayee and director Neeraj Pandey had clarified that the film is a work of fiction and was not intended to target any community. They said the title was connected to the narrative and character arc within the story. Mumbai court restrains CarryMinati from posting defamatory content against Karan Johar A Mumbai court has restrained YouTuber Ajey Nagar, popularly known as CarryMinati, along with talent manager Deepak Char and others, from publishing or circulating any defamatory content against filmmaker Karan Johar on social media platforms. The order was passed on February 9 by Principal Sessions Judge P. G. Bhonsale in the matter titled Karan Johar v. Ajey Nagar & Ors. The plea was filed by Johar through Apoorva Mehta, CEO of Dharma Productions, the banner owned by the filmmaker. Allegations of defamatory and abusive contentIn his plea, Johar claimed that the social media influencers had made defamatory statements about him in videos uploaded on YouTube. “The statements are so vulgar and abusive that they immediately needs to be taken down,” Johar’s plea stated. Counsel for Nagar argued before the court that the videos in question had already been taken down and that there was no surviving cause for Johar to approach the court. However, Johar countered this submission, stating that although the original videos were deleted, they had already been viewed by “millions of people”. “Unknown persons are making reels of it and again circulating it in the social media,” Johar argued. Court grants ad-interim injunctionAfter hearing the submissions, the court observed that prima facie it appeared that Nagar and Char had made defamatory statements and used vulgar language against Johar.... #Mumbai #Karan_Johar #Johar #manager_Deepak #Mumbai_court #Deepak_Char #defamatory_content #restrains_CarryMinati #Ajey_Nagar #Principal_Sessions

“UP Police book Shreyas Talpade in alleged investment cheating case, FIR registered in Mainpuri” Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh: The Bhogaon police in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Bollywood actor Shreyas Talpade and 12 others over an alleged investment fraud, officials said on Wednesday. According to the complaint filed on February 10, a resident of Mohalla Mishrana in Bhogaon accused Talpade and his associates of allegedly cheating him out of lakhs of rupees by promoting a purported investment scheme that promised high returns. Salman Khan shoots a patriotic song for Battle Of Galwan at Minister of Defence's request Salman Khan is going all-out to ensure that his war film Battle Of Galwan turns out to be another success in the genre after Border 2. In the bid to raise the emotional content of the product, Salman called his director Apoorva Lakhia last week and asked him to shoot a patriotic song, paying homage to the real-life soldiers on whom the film is based. “They shot the song literally overnight. Salman wanted the song for the end-credits paying homage to all the martyrs who are featured in the film. Director Apoorva Lakhia, who was on a short break, had to rush back and shoot the song,” an informed source revealed. The song, written and sung by Ayaan Lall (actress Kunicka Lall’s son), is filmed on Salman as the end credit will roll. The names and pictures of the martyred soldiers will flash on screen as Salman will lip-sync along. Ayaan Lall played a small sole in Salman’s Sikandar.
