Garuda Aerospace and Micron Instruments Sign Strategic Partnership to Develop Indigenous Military Technology Chennai-based drone manufacturer Garuda Aerospace has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Micron Instruments, marking a significant step forward for India’s domestic defense sector. The collaboration aims to combine Garuda’s expertise in drone flight technology with Micron’s experience in precision military components and ammunition systems, enabling the development of advanced, indigenous military hardware. This partnership is part of India’s broader efforts to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers and bolster self-reliance in defense manufacturing under initiatives like Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India. The partnership addresses the growing demand for unmanned warfare systems, which require both agile aerial platforms and precise weaponry. Garuda Aerospace, known for its work in drone design and autonomous navigation, will contribute its technical know-how to create reliable flying systems. Micron Instruments, with its decades of experience in manufacturing high-precision fuzes and military hardware, will provide the critical components and ammunition systems needed for weaponized drones. Together, the two companies aim to integrate hardware, software, and payloads seamlessly, ensuring the systems are combat-ready. The joint venture will focus on three key areas: loitering munitions, payload-enabled UAVs, and advanced unmanned systems. Loitering munitions, also known as “kamikaze” drones, are designed to reconnoiter hostile areas before executing precision strikes. Payload-enabled UAVs will carry sophisticated equipment such as cameras, radars, or military supplies for use in inaccessible regions.#india #make_in_india #garuda_aerospace #micron_instruments #aatmanirbhar_bharat
