Gurgaon Passport Fraud Uncovered: Family Used Multiple Identities to Obtain Passports A probe into a minor’s passport application in Gurgaon has uncovered a complex case of passport fraud involving a family that allegedly used multiple identities to obtain passports despite glaring discrepancies in personal details. The Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Delhi identified overlapping documents linked to different applications submitted by the same family during a routine system check, prompting a formal investigation. The case highlights systemic vulnerabilities in the verification process and the potential involvement of an organized network in forging documents. The probe began after a minor applied for a passport this year under the name “Akash Chawla,” submitting a birth certificate and Aadhaar card. During scrutiny, officials discovered that the same child had already been issued a passport in 2021 under a different identity—“Jay Batra.” The two applications contained conflicting details, including names, parents’ information, addresses, and dates of birth, yet both had cleared police verification. This discrepancy raised red flags, leading authorities to investigate the family’s entire passport history. The father, who applied for a passport in 2023 as “Sanjeev Chawla,” had previously submitted an application in 2012 under the name “Dhiraj Sharma.” However, that initial application was rejected due to an adverse police report. Despite this, the family allegedly continued using forged documents to secure new passports. The mother also faced similar inconsistencies: she first applied in 2012 as “Deepa Sharma” and later obtained another passport in 2023 as “Seema Chawla.” Both applications, despite clear discrepancies, passed police verification.#gurgaon #regional_passport_office #haryana_police #haryana_state_tourism_and_forests #sohna_city_police_station
