Chennaiyin FC to take on Kerala Blasters on Saturday Chennaiyin FC will face Kerala Blasters in a crucial Indian Super League match on Saturday. Despite securing a point in their previous encounter against Odisha FC, Chennaiyin have struggled to convert chances into goals, managing just one strike in their opening three matches. Coach Miranda acknowledged the team’s difficulties, attributing the issue to a combination of decision-making and execution in the final third of the pitch. He emphasized the importance of composure and better support in the penalty area, noting that while the team performs well in the first two phases of the game, the final phase remains the most challenging. Kerala Blasters, on the other hand, have started their campaign with three consecutive losses, despite showing promise in several matches. Miranda expects a tough challenge at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, highlighting the team’s resilience and the difficulty of playing in Kochi. He pointed out that Kerala’s performances have been unlucky, with opportunities missed in key moments. The match is anticipated to be a closely contested affair, with both teams needing to address their attacking inefficiencies to secure a positive result. The encounter will be a test for Chennaiyin as they aim to build momentum, while Kerala Blasters will look to bounce back from their poor start. Russia Allegedly Provided Iran with Intel to Help It Strike US Military, Sources Say The first indication that Moscow has sought to get involved in the war launched by the US and Israel against Iran emerged as reports surfaced that Russia allegedly provided Iran with intelligence to target American military assets in the region. Two officials familiar with US intelligence confirmed the claims, though they emphasized that the US has not found evidence Russia is directing Iran on how to use the information. The revelations come exactly one week after the US and Israel began air strikes on Iran, which killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and dozens of senior leadership and military figures, creating a power vacuum in the country. Iran’s retaliatory strikes on US military assets have sparked outrage across the Gulf, with countries like Saudi Arabia and Bahrain responding with heightened security measures. Saudi Arabia’s Defence Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman, warned Iran against “miscalculation” following repeated missile and drone attacks on the kingdom. He urged Tehran to “exercise wisdom” and avoid actions that threaten regional stability. Meanwhile, Bahrain reported explosions and air raid sirens in its capital, Manama, as citizens were advised to seek shelter. The alleged Russian intelligence support comes amid a broader escalation of hostilities. The US and Israel’s initial strikes on Iran, which targeted its nuclear infrastructure, have led to a cycle of retaliation. Iran’s attacks on US and Israeli assets in the Persian Gulf have drawn condemnation from Gulf states, which fear the conflict could spiral into a wider regional war. The situation has also disrupted air traffic, with flights heading to Dubai reported in holding patterns after debris from an intercepted drone fell near the airport.#us #iran #israel #russia #saudi_arabia

Explosions were reported in Dubai on Saturday, leading to the temporary suspension of flight operations at the city's airport, one of the world's busiest for international travel. Passengers waiting for departures were directed into train tunnels at the sprawling airfield as authorities activated air defenses. A witness told AFP that an explosion was heard over the airport, followed by a cloud of smoke in the air. Multiple residents also reported explosions across the city. The Dubai government confirmed that no incident occurred at the airport itself, stating that a minor event involving debris from an interception had been contained. No injuries were reported. Emirates Airlines suspended all flights to and from Dubai until further notice, offering rebooking or refund options for travelers booked between February 28 and March 31. Flight tracking data showed delays averaging 60 to 90 minutes, though some operations were later resumed. The incident occurred amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, with the U.S.-Israel-Iran conflict entering its eighth day. Iranian attacks targeted areas in Dubai, including the upscale Palm Jumeirah district and the Burj Al Arab hotel, while drone debris caused a fire at the U.S. consulate. Tehran retaliated by launching missiles at Israel, as the U.S. warned of an impending bombing campaign. The conflict has seen significant casualties, with four airport staff injured and a concourse damaged at Dubai International Airport. Iranian strikes have also disrupted infrastructure in the region, including a reported attack on a U.S. THAAD radar system worth $300 million. U.S. President Donald Trump's administration approved a $151 million arms sale to Israel, signaling a hardline stance against Iran. Iran's U.N. ambassador vowed to take "all necessary measures" to defend the country.#iran #emirates_airlines #burj_al_arab #dubai_airport #palm_jumeirah
Iranian Drone Strike Disrupts Dubai International Airport Operations A drone strike targeting Dubai International Airport’s runway caused temporary flight suspensions and prompted emergency measures by authorities. Witnesses reported a loud explosion followed by thick smoke, leading the Dubai Media Office to confirm that operations at the airport were halted for safety reasons. Flightradar24 tracking showed aircraft circling above the airport in a holding pattern as the incident unfolded. Emirates, the region’s largest airline, also suspended all flights to and from Dubai, advising passengers not to proceed to the airport unless notified of confirmed travel. The Dubai government described the incident as a “minor event” caused by debris from an intercepted drone, emphasizing no injuries were reported. However, the Emirati Ministry of Defence stated that air defenses were actively countering missile and drone threats from Iran, though specific targets of the attacks were not disclosed. Hours after the incident, Dubai airport partially resumed operations, with some flights resuming from Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). Passengers were urged to avoid the airport unless their flights were confirmed, as schedules remained volatile. The attack occurred amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, with Iran and Israel engaged in a series of strikes. Earlier in the week, Iranian drones had damaged the US consulate in Dubai, sparking fears of further attacks. The incident also followed reports of Iranian strikes on the luxury Burj Al Arab hotel and the upscale Palm Jumeirah development. Meanwhile, the US military confirmed that its airbase in Kuwait had suffered damage to its runway, though details remained scarce.#iran #dubai_international_airport #emirates_airline #burj_al_arab #us_consulate_dubai

The Era of Autonomous Coding Agents: Beyond Autocomplete The era of autonomous coding agents beyond autocomplete has arrived, driven by tools like Anthropic's Claude Code and OpenAI's Codex CLI (both released in 2024-2025). This article explores the shift from token-level suggestions to task-level execution, the architecture of autonomous agents, and practical strategies for implementing them in software development. A key distinction lies in the gap between traditional copilots and fully autonomous agents. Copilots, such as early GitHub Copilot, operate as autocomplete engines, offering line-by-line suggestions based on a single file's context. They lack the ability to plan, execute, or self-correct across entire codebases. In contrast, autonomous agents receive high-level task descriptions, reason through multi-step solutions, and interact with external tools like file systems, APIs, and test frameworks. This transition marks a fundamental shift in software engineering, where agents can scaffold features, write tests, debug issues, and submit pull requests without direct human intervention. The architecture of an autonomous coding agent revolves around a core loop: Plan, Execute, Observe, Iterate. This loop enables agents to generate reasoning traces, invoke tools, process feedback, and refine their approach. For example, an agent might analyze a stack trace, modify source code, rerun tests, and adjust its strategy based on results. This process requires access to external tools and reliable feedback mechanisms, such as test results or linter outputs, to ensure accuracy and prevent errors. Sandboxing is a critical safety measure for autonomous agents. Without it, agents could execute harmful commands or make destructive changes to a system.#software_engineering #anthropic_claude_code #openai_codex_cli #github_copilot #sandboxing
The Accidental Orchestrator For over two decades, I’ve written about software development for practitioners, covering coding, architecture, project management, and team dynamics. In recent years, my focus has shifted to AI and its role in software engineering. Despite the growing interest in AI tools like Claude Code, Copilot, and Cursor, I’ve struggled to find a structured approach for experienced developers to integrate these tools effectively. While there are plenty of tips and hype, there’s little guidance on how to practice, teach, or improve agentic engineering—a discipline that combines AI agents with human expertise. The debate around AI in software development often splits into two extremes: one claiming AI will render developers obsolete, the other insisting it’s just another tool. Neither view is accurate. AI doesn’t replace human expertise; it raises the bar for what developers need to know. The gap between theoretical understanding and practical application is a major source of anxiety for engineers. Many know they should review AI-generated code, maintain architecture, write tests, and stay in control of the codebase, but applying these principles in practice remains challenging. This tension led me to experiment with agentic engineering by building a production system from scratch, with AI writing all the code. The goal was to test a structured approach to using AI tools while addressing the complexities of real-world development. I chose Monte Carlo simulations as the project, a decision rooted in my childhood fascination with the technique. My father, an epidemiologist, introduced me to the concept of using simulations to uncover patterns in chaotic data.#ai #monte_carlo_simulations #drunken_sailor_problem #agentic_engineering #software_development
Tesla's Former AI Director Andrej Karpathy Who Said He Feels Behind As Programmer Now Says Software Programming Has Changed Due To... Karpathy says programmers now manage AI agents instead of writing code line by line This is a sharp evolution from the man who coined "vibe coding" just last year, where he described casually prompting AI and barely reviewing the output. That was fun for throwaway projects, he'd said at the time. Now, Karpathy is talking about something far more structured—spinning up AI agents, assigning tasks in plain English, and reviewing their work in parallel. "You're not typing computer code into an editor like the way things were since computers were invented, that era is over," he wrote. The post comes weeks after Karpathy admitted he'd "never felt this much behind as a programmer," describing the profession as being "dramatically refactored." He spoke of needing to master a new layer of abstraction involving agents, subagents, prompts, memory modes, and MCP protocols—all while the underlying AI models keep changing. AI coding productivity still a mixed bag despite industry hype Not everyone's sold on the revolution, though. A METR study from July found AI assistants actually decreased experienced developers' productivity by 19%. Bain & Company called programming productivity gains "unremarkable." Yet Google CEO Sundar Pichai has said AI writes over 30% of new code at Google, and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei claimed Claude was behind 90% of the company's code. Karpathy, for his part, isn't calling it magic. "It needs high-level direction, judgement, taste, oversight, iteration and hints and ideas," he wrote. But the leverage, he believes, is already enormous—and only growing.#andrej_karpathy #metr_study #sundar_pichai #dario_amodei #ai_coding
