National Firms Finally Get to Sink Their Teeth into Arkansas Bettors For years, national sports betting companies have been trying to get a foothold in the Natural State. But thanks to the passage of Act 239 in May 2021, they finally got their chance. As of January 2022, four national firms - FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM and Caesars Sportsbook - are now allowed to operate in Arkansas. As a resident of this great state, I'm excited to see what these national companies will bring to the table. For one thing, they'll be able to offer a wider range of sports betting options than we've seen so far from our local operators. And let's not forget about the technology - these firms have invested heavily in developing their platforms and apps, which will make it easier for Arkansans to place bets on the go. But I'm also concerned about what this means for our local economy. While national firms may bring more competition and choice to the market, they're also going to be taking a bigger share of the pie. That could mean less revenue for our local operators, who have been working hard to build their businesses from scratch. Ultimately, it's up to consumers to decide which sports betting option is right for them. But as someone who's passionate about this state and its people, I'm hoping that we'll see a healthy mix of national and local options on the table. After all, there's no reason why Arkansans can't enjoy the best of both worlds. As for me, I'm looking forward to seeing how these new players shake things up in the world of Arkansas sports betting.
