Pune Set to Host the World’s Tallest Sambhaji Maharaj Statue Pune, September 2025 — Pimpri-Chinchwad is preparing to unveil a monumental tribute to Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, with the Statue of Hindubhushan nearing completion in Moshi-Borhadewadi. Standing at an imposing 140 feet atop a 40-foot pedestal, the statue will reach a total height of 180 feet, making it the tallest monument dedicated to Sambhaji Maharaj anywhere in the world. The ambitious project is part of a sprawling cultural complex named Shambhu Srishti. Conceived under the leadership of BJP MLA Mahesh Landge and developed with the support of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority, the site is designed not just as a landmark but also as a center for history, culture, and education. The statue itself has already attracted international recognition, with the London Book of Records acknowledging it as the world’s tallest Sambhaji Maharaj statue. Recently, on September 14, thousands of devotees and cultural enthusiasts gathered for a grand tribute event that filled the air with the beats of 3,000 dhols and 1,000 tashas, while over 500 saffron flags were unfurled in honor of the Maratha king. The massive turnout highlighted the deep reverence and pride that Sambhaji Maharaj continues to inspire across Maharashtra. Beyond the towering bronze figure of the king, Shambhu Srishti will feature statues of Sambhaji’s commander-in-chief Hambirrao Mohite, sixteen Maratha sardars and mavlas, as well as intricately designed bronze murals narrating key episodes from history. Plans also include an open-air theatre and a holographic presentation hall that will chronicle Sambhaji Maharaj’s life, struggles, and legacy. #Pune #ChatrapatiSambhajiMaharaj #Chava #moshi
