Exclusive! Young Sherlock's showrunner Matthew Parkhill: 'Aamir Khan's Lagaan is my favourite Bollywood film, Elizabeth (Rachel Shelley) from the movie...' In a fascinating chat with Firstpost, Matthew Parkhill, the showrunner of popular TV series Young Sherlock, shared his love for Aamir Khan's iconic film Lagaan. The British producer revealed that he considers the 2001 epic sports drama as his go-to Bollywood film. When asked about his fascination with the movie, Parkhill said, "I'm a huge fan of Aamir Khan and Lagaan is my favourite Bollywood film. I think it's an incredible story, beautifully shot and the music is just fantastic." Parkhill also shared some interesting insights about how he draws inspiration from Lagaan while working on Young Sherlock. He revealed that Elizabeth (played by Rachel Shelley), a character in the show, was partly inspired by Lagaan's protagonist Radha's (Gracy Singh) spirit and determination. "When we were developing the character of Elizabeth, I drew parallels with Radha from Lagaan," he said. "Radha's strength and resilience in the face of adversity are qualities that make her an incredible character, and similarly, Elizabeth is a strong and resourceful individual who plays a crucial role in our show." Lagaan, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, tells the story of a group of Indian villagers who take on the British colonialists at cricket to win their freedom. The film features Aamir Khan in a lead role alongside Gracy Singh and Rachel Shelley.#Aamir_Khan #Lagaan #Ashutosh_Gowariker #Gracy_Singh #Rachel_Shelley
