Mumbai University has introduced a pioneering initiative allowing undergraduate students at affiliated colleges to opt for a 2-credit elective course each semester, focusing on subjects pertinent to civil services examinations. These courses, covering topics such as Indian Polity, Geography, Economics, Science, Technology, and Personality Development, aim to provide early exposure to civil services preparation, enabling students to integrate this into their formal education. The curriculum has been developed under the guidance of experienced professionals and will be delivered online, aligning with the flexibility introduced by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This initiative is the result of a Memorandum of Understanding between Mumbai University and the Chintamanrao Deshmukh Institute for Administrative Careers, operated by the Thane Municipal Corporation. The collaboration aims to strengthen the representation of Maharashtra students in India's civil services by providing structured training for competitive exams like the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) alongside their degree programs. Dr. Ravindra Kulkarni, Vice-Chancellor of Mumbai University, termed this move historic, emphasizing that it allows students to integrate competitive exam training into their formal education. The courses are designed not only to prepare students academically but also to help them develop critical skills like communication and ethics, thereby enhancing their overall personality development. #MumbaiUniversity #CivilServicesPrep #UPSC #MPSC #NEP2020 #StudentEmpowerment #ElectiveCourses #HigherEducation
