From Tezaab to Subedar: Suresh Triveni’s Full Circle with Anil Kapoor The latest show on Amazon Prime Video, Subedar, marks a significant milestone in the career of filmmaker Suresh Triveni. The creator of TV shows like Office Chai, Girls Hostel and Hostel Daze, has come full circle, from making debutante films to working with an industry veteran like Anil Kapoor. In this exclusive conversation with Hindustan Times, Suresh talks about his journey, the challenges he faced, and what drew him to Subedar. Suresh's love for storytelling began early in life. Growing up in a small town in Madhya Pradesh, he was fascinated by films and theatre. He pursued filmmaking as a career, working on several projects before taking the leap into television with Office Chai. The show's success led to Girls Hostel and Hostel Daze, both of which gained popularity for their relatable storylines and well-developed characters. Working with Anil Kapoor was an opportunity Suresh couldn't let pass by. "I have always been a huge fan of his work. When the chance arose to collaborate on Subedar, I jumped at it," he says. The show, based on the life of Param Vir Chakra awardee Subedar Joginder Singh, is a war drama that explores themes of patriotism, sacrifice, and human spirit. Suresh has spoken about how challenging it was to balance his creative vision with the demands of working with an actor like Anil Kapoor. "He's a perfectionist, and rightly so. He wants the best for every scene, which pushes you to do better," he says. The experience, however, has been enriching for Suresh. "Working with him has taught me a lot about the craft of acting and storytelling."
