Women's Basketball Wraps Up Regular Season Against Beach And Anteaters The UC Davis women's basketball team wrapped up its regular season with a pair of games against the University of California, Santa Barbara and Cal State Fullerton. The Aggies faced off against the Gauchos on Friday night at The Pavilion, looking to bounce back from a tough loss earlier in the week. UC Davis came out strong, taking an early 10-4 lead behind the hot shooting of senior guard Emma Torbert. The Aggies continued to push the pace, building their advantage to as many as nine points midway through the quarter. However, the Gauchos refused to go away, trimming the deficit to just three by the end of the period. The second quarter saw both teams struggle from the field, with UC Davis shooting just 30% and UCSB checking in at 27%. The Aggies managed to maintain their slim lead, heading into halftime up 31-28. In the third quarter, the Gauchos used a 10-2 run to take their first lead of the game, but Torbert responded with five straight points for UC Davis, including a pair of threes. The teams traded baskets throughout the fourth quarter, with neither side able to pull away. In the end, the Aggies' defense came up big, holding the Gauchos scoreless over the final 2:15 and preserving a 62-59 victory. In the second game of the doubleheader, UC Davis faced off against Cal State Fullerton. The Titans got out to an early lead, but the Aggies battled back behind a strong effort from freshman forward Kayla Kriston. Kriston scored a season-high 14 points, including 10 in the second half, as UC Davis came from behind to win 64-58. The Aggies now look ahead to the Big West Conference Tournament, which is set to begin on March 9th.#UC_Davis #Cal_State_Fullerton #University_of_California_Santa_Barbara #Emma_Torbert #Kayla_Kriston #Big_West_Conference_Tournament
