City and Town of Beloit to Share Some Fire/EMS Services The City of Beloit and the Town of Beloit have reached an agreement to share some fire and emergency medical services. The shared services are expected to take effect in the spring. Under the agreement, the City of Beloit will continue to provide fire protection services to both jurisdictions, but the Town of Beloit will also be able to access those services at a reduced cost. The two entities will also work together to provide emergency medical services, with the City of Beloit's paramedics responding to calls in the Town of Beloit. The agreement is expected to save the Town of Beloit around $50,000 per year on fire protection costs. The town has been struggling financially in recent years and this agreement is seen as a way for them to free up funds for other priorities. "This is a big win for the taxpayers of the Town of Beloit," said Town Chairman Mike Patterson. "We're excited to be working with the City of Beloit on this agreement, which will help us provide better services at a lower cost." The agreement was approved by both the City and Town councils after several months of negotiations. "This is a great example of what can happen when two entities work together for the good of their residents," said Mayor Mike Smith. "We're happy to be able to share our resources with the Town of Beloit and provide better services at a lower cost." The shared services are expected to take effect in March, pending final approval from state authorities. In addition to providing fire protection and emergency medical services, the agreement also includes a provision for the two entities to work together on planning and training. This will allow them to share best practices and improve their overall response times.
