The FIR names Nishit Patel, Mahesh Patil, Rupesh, Sagar Mehta, Devendra Padwal, and several others under Sections 318(4), 319(2), 336(2), 336(3), 338, 340(2), 341(1), 61(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police officials said the accused allegedly deceived the Jaffrey family by claiming they had close ties with influential builders and senior government authorities. They reportedly persuaded the family to invest crores of rupees in the “New Kamalkunj” redevelopment project located in Bandra West, promising high financial returns and speedy possession of the property. Investigators allege that forged paperwork, fake letters of interest, and fabricated registration-related formalities were used to make the deal appear genuine and win the family’s confidence. Man arrested in Rohit Shetty house firing case by UP STF and Mumbai Crime Branch A joint team of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force and the Mumbai Police Crime Branch has arrested a suspect in connection with the firing outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence earlier this year. The accused has been identified as Pradeep Kumar, also known as Gaath. He was arrested from the Chhadami Mattha area on the Agra-Etah road under the Bah police station limits in Agra. The firing incident took place in February outside Shetty Tower, the filmmaker’s residence in Juhu, Mumbai. Gunmen opened fire at the building and bullets struck the glass railing of his balcony. No injuries were reported in the incident. Security outside the residence was increased soon after the attack. According to police officials, the firing was allegedly carried out on the instructions of the Shubham Lonkar gang. The motive was said to be extortion and an attempt to spread fear within the film industry and among the public.
