The near-Earth asteroid 2025 TF made a close flyby of Earth on October 7, 2025, coming within approximately 380,000 kilometers—roughly the distance to the Moon. Astronomers emphasized that the asteroid posed no threat of impact, but its proximity offered a unique opportunity for observation and study. Space agencies, including NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA), deployed telescopes and radar systems to monitor the asteroid’s trajectory, size, and composition. Preliminary data suggests that 2025 TF measures about 120 meters in diameter, making it large enough to study in detail using ground-based instrumentation. Scientists highlighted that such close approaches provide valuable insights into the behavior, orbit, and material composition of near-Earth objects, which is critical for planetary defense initiatives. Amateur astronomers and observatories around the world also reported observing 2025 TF, with many capturing detailed images. Experts stressed that continued monitoring of similar near-Earth objects is essential for early warning systems and impact mitigation strategies. #Asteroid2025TF #NearEarthObject #SpaceNews #PlanetaryDefense #Astronomy #ESA #NASA #AsteroidFlyby #SpaceObservation #EarthSafety
Maharashtra’s school education department has launched an initiative called Mukhyamantri Vidyarthi Vigyaan Wari to encourage scientific curiosity among students. Under it, top performers in science exhibitions will get to visit major scientific institutions: 51 to NASA in the US, 51 to ISRO in Bengaluru, and 21 to the Raman Science Centre in Nagpur. A big emphasis is on rural students—making sure that exposure isn't limited to city kids. The idea is that seeing science in action (and interacting with scientists) can inspire students more than just trophies or certificates. These field visits are being framed as rewards that broaden horizons, offer real exposure, and hopefully spark more interest in STEM among younger students from all backgrounds. #STEMEducation #ScienceOutreach #Inspiration #RuralSchools #NASA #ISRO #Maharashtra #YoungScientists #Curiosity #EducationOpportunity
