The Adani Group has sparked a major political storm after being allotted 1,050 acres of land in Pirpainti, Bhagalpur (Bihar) on a lease of ₹1 per year for 33 years to build a 2,400 MW thermal power plant. Congress leader Pawan Khera accused the BJP-led Bihar government and Industries Minister Nitish Mishra of favoring Adani just ahead of state elections. He alleged that the land, home to nearly 10 lakh trees including mango, litchi, and teak, would be cleared, causing massive environmental damage. The opposition called it a “land gift” to Adani and demanded the deal be scrapped. The Bihar government rejected the claims, clarifying that a transparent bidding process was followed where four companies participated, and Adani Power won by quoting the lowest tariff of ₹6.075 per unit. Government officials argue the project will bring jobs, investment, and power to the region, but critics say it highlights crony capitalism and raises serious concerns about environmental impact, public interest, and fairness in resource allocation. #AdaniGroup #BiharPolitics #Pirpainti #Bhagalpur #ThermalPowerPlant #LandAllotment #EnvironmentalConcerns #CronyCapitalism #BJP #Congress #PawanKhera #NitishMishra #PoliticalStorm #ResourceAllocation #GreenIndia #DeforestationAlert #PublicInterest #InvestmentVsEnvironment #News #newsone
