In a step toward improving athlete safety, an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) has been installed at the Kotambi Cricket Stadium in Vadodara on October 13, 2025. The initiative, led by the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA), aims to ensure quick emergency response during on-field cardiac incidents. The AED unit will be accessible to players, staff, and spectators, with trained medical personnel available during all major matches and training sessions. The move follows growing awareness about cardiac risks in sports after several global incidents where timely defibrillator use saved lives—such as Christian Eriksen’s 2021 cardiac arrest during the Euro Cup. Indian sports authorities have since emphasized installing AEDs across major venues. Experts and former cricketers hailed the BCA’s decision as a model for other state associations. Medical professionals noted that having an AED on-site can increase survival chances by over 70% in sudden cardiac emergencies, marking this as a crucial upgrade for player welfare. #Vadodara #KotambiStadium #AEDInstallation #SportsSafety #BarodaCricketAssociation #PlayerWelfare #CricketIndia #EmergencyResponse #HealthInSports #SportsNews
