Forensic Lab Fire Among String Of Blazes Reported In Nagpur A fire broke out at the State Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Nagpur on Wednesday afternoon, joining a series of blazes reported across the city as soaring temperatures fueled emergency situations. The incident at the FSL, which is a government facility, occurred around 12:48 pm. Firefighters from the Cotton Market Fire Station arrived promptly and managed to contain the blaze before it could spread to other parts of the building. Preliminary investigations indicated that the fire originated in an electrical distribution panel, causing damage to cables and meter installations. No injuries were reported in the incident. Earlier in the day, a major fire erupted at a centring material godown in Gujarati Colony, Bharat Nagar, Kalamna, around 4:30 am. The warehouse, owned by Abhishek Mathurkar, was filled with large quantities of plywood and wooden centring materials. The flames quickly spread, and firefighters worked for nearly three hours to extinguish the blaze. Smouldering timber repeatedly reignited, requiring continuous cooling operations until approximately 7:30 am. While the fire destroyed material worth lakhs of rupees, timely intervention prevented it from spreading to nearby properties. In separate incidents, two MSEDCL distribution transformers caught fire due to suspected short circuits. The first incident occurred near the Raymond showroom in Jaripatka around 1:30 am, and another transformer caught fire near Capital Furniture in Omkar Nagar about an hour later.
