14 Charged in Large-Scale Cocaine Trafficking at Penn State Fraternities Fourteen individuals, including five current Penn State students, were charged Monday in a large-scale, coordinated cocaine trafficking operation linked to two off-campus fraternities. Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday described the case as involving significant drug distribution and criminal activity spanning 2023 to 2024. The operation, centered around Delta Upsilon and Sigma Chi fraternities, saw cocaine sourced from Philadelphia and New York being transported to State College and packaged at fraternity houses, often by pledges as part of hazing rituals. According to the grand jury presentment, the trafficking network facilitated purchases totaling over $50,000, with some fraternity members receiving commissions from drug sales. Sunday emphasized that the operation was highly organized, with regular trips to source cities and large quantities of cocaine being brought back to the fraternities. “This was a coordinated and organized cocaine trafficking operation,” Sunday stated during a press conference. “There was nothing junior or childlike about this type of conduct.” Agostino S. Abbatiello, 24, of New York, was identified as the head of the operation. Prosecutors described him as the primary dealer for Penn State students, with allegations that he distributed cocaine as recently as February 2025. When law enforcement began investigating, Abbatiello allegedly begged others to avoid disclosing his involvement. A warrant for his arrest was issued, and he was a former Sigma Chi member until 2024. Thomas M. Robinson, 23, of Allegheny County, was positioned as a key subordinate to Abbatiello.
