Modernization of Somesar Railway Station Completed at ₹12.41 Crore Cost The Somesar Railway Station, part of the Ajmer Mandla under the Western Railway, has completed its soft upgrade and redevelopment project at an estimated cost of ₹12.41 crore. The initiative aims to enhance passenger experience by introducing modern facilities and improving infrastructure. The station now offers a range of upgraded amenities, including improved waiting areas, platform shelters, boundary walls, air conditioning, and LED lighting. The redevelopment includes the construction of a new station building spanning 1,453 square meters at the main entrance, along with a second entry gate covering 242 square meters. Both entry gates feature a 2,660 square meter circulating area, landscaped with modern designs, separate entry-exit gates, and designated drop-off/pick-up points. A 380 square meter advanced waiting area has been established to accommodate passengers, while both platforms have undergone resurfacing to ensure better traction. To protect passengers from weather conditions, a 765 square meter platform shelter with an additional 7 bays has been constructed. A 350-meter boundary wall has been built to enhance the security of the station premises. The project also includes the installation of 146 indoor LED down lights, decorative LED poles, and four high mast towers for illumination. Passenger convenience has been prioritized with the addition of two automated ticket vending machines (ATVMs) at the entry gates for unreserved tickets and dedicated ticket counters for reserved bookings. Air conditioning units have been installed in waiting rooms and VIP areas, while a 12-foot high-speed HVLS fan in the waiting hall ensures better air circulation.#western_railway #indian_railways #somesar_railway_station #ajmer_mandla #railway_station_redevelopment
