KSRTC Warns Employees Against Strike Amid Wage Dispute The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has issued a stern warning to its employees, urging them to avoid participating in an indefinite state-wide strike planned for May 20. The strike, called by transport unions, is linked to unresolved disputes over wage revisions, pending arrears, and welfare benefits. Employees are being cautioned that those absent from duty will face salary deductions under the “no work, no pay” policy, along with other disciplinary measures. The directive was issued on May 18 by KSRTC Managing Director Akram Pasha through a circular, as tensions between transport workers and the state government escalate. The unions, representing staff of four road transport corporations—KSRTC, Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation, North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation, and Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation—have threatened to halt services from May 20. The strike call is led by the Joint Action Committee of KSRTC Trade Unions (JAC), which accuses the government of delaying wage revisions and failing to resolve long-standing financial grievances. Unions have demanded that the Karnataka government address their concerns by May 19. If unresolved, public transport services operated by all four corporations are expected to cease from May 20, as employees plan to stay home and avoid reporting to work. The JAC alleges that repeated appeals to the government over these issues have yielded no results. KSRTC has barred the strike under the Karnataka Essential Services Maintenance Act (KESMA), which classifies the four road transport corporations as essential public utility services.#ksrtc #akram_pasha #joint_action_committee_of_ksrtc_trade_unions #karnataka_essential_services_maintenance_act #mysuru_deputy_commissioner_g_lakshmikanth_reddy
