Bankipur By-Election Set for Tomorrow with 3.79 Lakh Voters The Bankipur by-election is set to take place tomorrow, with 3.79 lakh voters casting their ballots to determine the fate of 25 candidates. The election process will involve significant logistical arrangements, including traffic management, technical contingencies for electronic voting machines (EVMs), and enhanced security measures. Traffic restrictions will be enforced starting at 5:30 PM on the day of the election. Vehicles will be diverted along alternate routes to accommodate the collection of EVMs and VVPATs (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) at AN College. The restriction will apply to the Boring Road area, including the Mohini Chowk to Pani Tanki bend, with exceptions for emergency services, ambulances, and vehicles associated with judicial proceedings. Alternate routes for vehicles transporting EVMs and VVPATs have been specified, ensuring efficient movement to and from the collection points. A total of 422 polling stations will be operational, with 1,266 municipal workers deployed to maintain cleanliness and conduct fogging operations. Special attention will be given to sanitizing polling booths, restrooms, and surrounding areas using lime and bleach. Each polling station will have a dedicated water supply counter, and mobile units will be stationed at booths to assist voters. Technical preparedness is a key focus, with 40% more EVMs and 50% more VVPATs than the required number. Each polling station will be equipped with one control unit, two ballot units, and one VVPAT. The entire process will be monitored from the district administration’s conference hall.
