New Orleans Police Officer Arrested on Over 325 Counts of Payroll Fraud A senior New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) officer, Brandon Coleman, 39, was arrested on Friday morning on more than 325 charges related to payroll fraud and alleged misconduct. Coleman is accused of defrauding the department by submitting false records to claim excessive overtime pay, which totaled over $111,000 between December 2024 and December 2025. The investigation, which began in April 2025, revealed discrepancies between Coleman’s reported work hours and his actual time spent on duty, as well as inconsistencies between the locations he claimed to be at and his physical whereabouts. The Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division and the New Orleans Office of Inspector General (OIG) collaborated on the probe. Authorities obtained a warrant for Coleman’s arrest, and he was booked into Orleans Parish jail on Friday. The charges include 325 counts of filing false public records, 23 counts of public payroll fraud, one count of malfeasance in office, and a single count of theft. Coleman’s bail was set at $3.4 million, though he was released on bond later that afternoon. NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick stated that the department is fully cooperating with the investigation, emphasizing that accountability and integrity are central to the agency. “We will continue to cooperate as the case moves forward,” she said in a statement provided by state police.
