Nagpur: With LPG supplies under strain, the state has rolled out a temporary kerosene distribution plan, allocating 120 kilolitres for rural areas of the district. Under the scheme, each ration card holder family will be entitled to three litres of kerosene. According to the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department, the Centre has sanctioned 3,744 kilolitres of kerosene for the state, with district-wise quotas established. However, Nagpur city has not been allocated any share of the kerosene. Officials stated that Antyodaya and priority household beneficiaries will be prioritized in the first phase, with other families included based on availability. The distribution drive is set to be completed within 45 days through fair price shops and authorized vendors. To prevent diversion and black marketing, district-level monitoring squads will be deployed, with strict measures planned against violations. Authorities noted that Nagpur has yet to receive its allocated stock, and retail prices will be finalized once supplies reach local depots. The kerosene is expected to be priced between Rs 60 and Rs 65 per litre. The plan aims to address the immediate needs of rural populations amid ongoing LPG supply challenges. The allocation highlights the disparity in resource distribution between urban and rural areas, with cities like Nagpur left without any kerosene supply. While the government emphasizes the temporary nature of the measure, the exclusion of urban centers has raised questions about equitable access to essential resources. The distribution process will rely on existing infrastructure, including fair price shops, to ensure timely delivery to beneficiaries. The initiative underscores the broader challenges of managing fuel shortages in the state, with officials focusing on prioritizing vulnerable groups.#nagpur #lpg #antyodaya #fair_price_shops
