Armed Robbery at Akola Jewellery Shop Solved in 72 Hours A sensational daylight armed robbery at a jewellery shop in Akola was resolved within 72 hours by local police, who arrested the accused and recovered stolen valuables worth ₹25.91 lakh, along with the weapon used in the crime. The incident occurred on May 7 afternoon at Shri Saptashrungi Alankar Kendra, where an unidentified individual entered the shop, threatened employees with a gun, and looted gold and silver ornaments, as well as cash totaling ₹69.90 lakh. Following the robbery, a case was registered at Khadan police station, prompting the formation of a special investigation team under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Archit Chandak. The team, led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sudarshan Patil and local crime branch Inspector Shankar Shelke, included seven officers and over 50 personnel. Through technical analysis and intelligence inputs, the accused was identified as Rohansingh Satnamsingh Bawra, a resident of Bhusawal in Jalgaon district. Police teams tracked Bawra and arrested him in Bhusawal. During interrogation, he confessed to staying in a rented room in Akola under the pretense of selling bedsheets, conducting reconnaissance of the area before executing the robbery. The police recovered approximately 160 grams of gold ornaments valued at ₹24 lakh, 440 grams of silver ornaments valued at ₹1.23 lakh, and a locally made firearm used in the crime. Efforts are ongoing to recover the remaining stolen property.
