Former Middle School Teacher Charged with Sexual Assault of Minor in Gloucester County A former middle school teacher in New Jersey has been charged with multiple counts of sexual assault against a student, sparking alarm in the local community. Ashley A. Fisler, 36, a former teacher at Orchard Valley Middle School in Washington Township, was arrested and faces eight charges, including sexual assault of a minor, endangering the welfare of a child, and official misconduct. The alleged crimes occurred in 2021, during which the victim was a minor and Fisler was employed at the school. Prosecutors revealed that the victim described multiple sexual encounters taking place in Fisler’s vehicle and classroom during that time. Text messages between Fisler and the victim, which were uncovered during the investigation, confirmed the unlawful nature of their relationship. Fisler is no longer employed as a teacher in Washington Township or any other district. The charges include six counts of first-degree sexual assault of a minor, one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of second-degree official misconduct. Each first-degree sexual assault charge could result in up to 20 years in state prison, while second-degree charges carry a maximum of 10 years. Fisler is currently being held in Salem County Jail and is set to appear in court on March 27 for her first hearing. The investigation was initiated after the victim, now an adult, disclosed the alleged relationship on January 23, 2026. The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, along with the Washington Township Police Department, led the probe. Prosecutor Andrew B. Johns praised the collaboration between the agencies. Parents and neighbors expressed shock and distress over the allegations.#ashley_a_fisler #orchard_valley_middle_school #gloucester_county #washington_township #andrew_b_johns
