48,741 Homes in Amravati Benefit from Solar Scheme Electricity bills for 48,741 domestic consumers in Amravati circle have been reduced to zero thanks to the central government’s ‘Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana.’ This initiative provides free electricity to households consuming up to 300 units per month through subsidized rooftop solar installations. Under the scheme, consumers receive a subsidy of up to Rs 78,000 for installing solar rooftop projects—Rs 30,000 for the first two kilowatts and Rs 18,000 for the third kilowatt. The subsidy is directly credited to bank accounts, with additional loan facilities available to support installation. Amravati district has emerged as the leading region in implementing the scheme, with 33,846 completed installations. Within Amravati city alone, 19,272 households have adopted the solar system. Other notable contributors include Achalpur, which recorded 5,912 projects, followed by Morshi with 4,606 and Amravati Rural with 4,056. In neighboring Yavatmal district, 14,895 consumers have embraced rooftop solar systems under the scheme. Yavatmal division leads with 6,257 projects, while Pusad accounted for 3,430 installations, Pandharkawada for 3,360, and Darwha for 1,846. MSEDCL officials attributed the rapid implementation of the scheme to the efforts of Chief Engineer Ashok Salunke and Superintending Engineers Deepak Deohate and Pravin Daroli. The success of the initiative has been driven by streamlined online application processes, technical guidance provided to consumers, and expedited net metering procedures. These measures have spurred demand in both urban and rural areas, ensuring widespread adoption of the solar scheme.#amravati #misedcl #pradhan_mantri_suryaghar_muft_bijli_yojana #ashok_salunke #deepak_deohate
