The two men, identified as Ravi (52) and his son Ayyanar (21), were engaged in the task when the accident unfolded. According to reports, Ayyanar descended into the well first to clear the area. However, he was immediately overcome by a buildup of toxic gases and collapsed at the bottom, unable to ascend. His father, Ravi, grew concerned when his son did not resurface after an extended period. Without hesitation, Ravi rushed into the well to rescue his son. Unfortunately, he too was exposed to the hazardous gases and collapsed at the same location, leading to both fatalities. Emergency responders, including fire department personnel equipped with protective gear such as masks and oxygen cylinders, arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. After a prolonged and challenging operation, the bodies of Ravi and Ayyanar were recovered and transported to a government hospital for postmortem examinations. The police have since initiated an investigation into the incident, documenting the circumstances and gathering evidence to determine the exact cause of the gas buildup. The well, located in a residential area, had been the subject of excavation work by the two men, who were employed as laborers. The tragedy has sparked discussions about safety protocols for such tasks, particularly in environments where the risk of gas accumulation is present.#police #fire_department #yanai_kavuni #ravi #ayyanar https://www.dailythanthi.com/news/tamilnadu/father-and-son-die-after-inhaling-toxic-gas-while-desilting-a-well-sensation-in-chennai
