Uttarakhand Heavy Rain Alert | Landslide Warning Issued For 5 Districts Heavy rainfall and landslide warnings have been issued for five districts in Uttarakhand, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting intense weather conditions that could lead to significant disruptions. The alerts cover Dehradun, Champawat, Bageshwar, Udham Singh Nagar, and Nainital, where heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected. Additionally, yellow alerts have been activated for areas including Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Almora, and Pithoragarh, where thunderstorms, lightning, and torrential rain may occur. Rainfall measurements from the past 24 hours indicate severe weather activity. Bageshwar recorded the highest rainfall at 132 mm, followed by Pokhari at 114 mm and Lohaghat at 111 mm. These figures highlight the intensity of the downpours, which have already caused road closures and traffic disruptions. As of now, over 92 roads remain blocked due to landslides, affecting mountainous regions such as Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Pithoragarh. In Chamoli, heavy rains triggered a landslide near Badrinath Highway, blocking the route and causing traffic chaos. The incident led to a buildup of vehicles on both sides of the road, with authorities deploying machinery to clear debris. The police have also imposed a traffic ban to ensure safety. Meanwhile, in Ramnagar, a tree fell onto a car on NH-309, damaging the vehicle but leaving no casualties. Dehradun, the state capital, faces similar risks, with the IMD warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall, lightning, and thunderstorms.
