NCC Woman Power Pulls Out A Farmer Stuck In Well For 18+ Hrs A farmer from Sewagram in Wardha, Jeevan Tanksande, was rescued after being trapped in a well for over 18 hours following a coordinated effort by the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). The incident occurred near the Bapurao Dehsmukh Foundation hostel in Nagpur, where an NCC girls’ camp was underway. The rescue operation, which took approximately two hours, was initiated after a local woman, Kamrunisa, alerted the NCC camp’s deputy commandant, Major Rizu Rawat, about the farmer’s predicament. Tanksande had fallen into the well on Friday evening while checking the water level. Unable to climb out, he spent the night clinging to a small rod inside the well, with his mobile phone submerged in water. His family members were away, and the isolated location prevented his cries for help from being heard until Kamrunisa, who worked at the hostel’s garden, heard him. She immediately informed Rawat, who then coordinated with the NDRF team present at the camp for a briefing. The NCC team, including Lt Col Priti Tiwari, Subedar Major Chandra Bhan Singh, nursing assistants GB Jangale and Ganesh Naik, and a driver, rushed to the site. Initially, they attempted to pull Tanksande out using ropes from cadet training exercises, but the exhausted farmer was too weak to secure the ropes. Recognizing the need for specialized equipment, Rawat called upon the NDRF team, which provided a rescue tube typically used in water-rescue operations. Tanksande managed to wriggle into the tube despite his weakened condition, and rescuers then used ropes to pull him to safety. After the rescue, Tanksande received immediate medical attention and was reported to be in good health.#national_disaster_response_force #ncc #jeevan_tanksande #kamrunisa #bapurao_dehsmukh_foundation
