RGUHS Plans 900-Bed High-Tech Hospital at Ramanagara Campus The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) has approved the construction of a 900-bed, high-tech hospital at its new campus in Ramanagara, Karnataka. This decision, made by the university’s Senate and Syndicate, aims to establish a dedicated facility for clinical training and practice. The project is part of a broader initiative to expand medical education and healthcare infrastructure in the region. The university has submitted a detailed proposal to the state government for approval to begin construction, with plans to integrate the hospital into its academic framework. RGUHS Vice-Chancellor BC Bhagavan emphasized that the hospital is essential for clinical training, stating that the university’s proposal to the National Medical Commission (NMC) includes establishing a new government medical college in Ramanagara. He explained that the hospital is a mandatory component of the medical college’s infrastructure, as per regulatory requirements. The master plan for the hospital, which includes advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities, has been prepared and forwarded to the state government for final approval. The new RGUHS campus, located near Archakarahalli in Ramanagara, is currently under development at a cost of approximately ₹600 crore. Originally, the campus was designed to house medical, dental, pharmacy, and nursing colleges, along with a 250-bed super-specialty hospital and a 750-bed high-tech hospital. However, the state government revised the plan, approving only the medical, dental, pharmacy, and nursing colleges, while dropping the high-tech hospital component.
