Gujarat Experiences Record Heat as Bhavnagar Hits 38°C Temperatures across Gujarat surged to unprecedented levels during the first week of March, with Bhavnagar emerging as the hottest city at 38°C on Thursday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that hot and humid conditions would persist over coastal regions, including the Kutch area, on March 5 and 6, potentially causing discomfort for residents. The weather department also noted that maximum temperatures are expected to remain stable until Friday, after which a gradual decline of 2–3 degrees Celsius is anticipated by the weekend. A subsequent rise of 2–3 degrees is projected thereafter. Minimum temperatures, meanwhile, are expected to remain largely unchanged until the following week. On Thursday, both maximum and minimum temperatures rose significantly in parts of Saurashtra, while North and South Gujarat recorded temperatures well above average. Bhavnagar recorded the highest maximum temperature at 38°C, which is 4.7 degrees above the normal range. Rajkot followed closely with 37.9°C, 3.8 degrees above normal.
