The Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which includes the Congress, Shiv Sena, and NCP, has blamed the state government for neglecting tribal communities, while the BJP-led Mahayuti faction has claimed the school was operated by a trust founded by a former Congress MP, Maratrao Kowase. The incident has intensified tensions between the two political blocs. Congress MLA Nana Patole accused Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who oversees Gadchiroli district, of failing to provide basic facilities to tribal populations. Patole argued that the lack of proper infrastructure in the school, which was supposed to be a secure environment, led to the snakebite tragedy. “If you are unable to provide basic facilities, the lack of which is leading to incidents such as snakebites in a supposedly secure school environment, it reflects gross neglect. There must be accountability for the loss of lives,” Patole stated. Shiv Sena UBT MP Sanjay Raut further criticized the BJP, alleging that the party’s policies have endangered tribal communities to facilitate corporate expansion. Raut cited previous incidents, including the deaths of 1,500 tribals in Gadchiroli last year, to underscore his claims. “The death of these kids is a reminder of what value BJP places on tribal lives.
