BJP Workers Unofficially Part of SIR: Congress Alleges Political Interference Nagpur: City Congress president Praful Gudadhe accused the BJP of allowing around 500 of its office-bearers and workers to unofficially participate in the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Addressing a news conference on Wednesday, Gudadhe claimed these individuals, based outside Nagpur, were operating from Hyderabad House, which houses the state government’s Nagpur secretariat. He alleged that the BJP workers were initially accommodated at an MLA hostel and transported daily in six buses to various Assembly constituencies across the city to assist in voter verification, despite having no authorized role in the Election Commission’s process. According to Gudadhe, the workers allegedly completed fieldwork and then reported to Hyderabad House, where they remained for the past month. He demanded explanations from the administration about the legal basis for their presence and their involvement in the SIR exercise. The Congress leader stated that the party had submitted a memorandum to Nagpur collector Ashiwad Kumar seeking a detailed inquiry but received no satisfactory response. Gudadhe called for transparency, urging the district administration to release CCTV footage from the MLA hostel and Hyderabad House to clarify the situation. The BJP did not immediately comment on the allegations. Election authorities reiterated that the SIR process is being conducted strictly in accordance with the Election Commission’s guidelines through authorized election machinery. They emphasized that the revision of electoral rolls is an independent and impartial exercise and warned that political party involvement would undermine public confidence in the process.#election_commission #nagpur_collector #hyderabad_house #prafal_gudadhe #bjp_workers
