VRAS Protests Demand Statehood for Vidarbha Nagpur: A significant protest organized by Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti (VRAS) unfolded in Variety Square on Tuesday, marked by loud slogans, clanging steel plates, and heightened emotions as activists demanded a separate state for Vidarbha. The demonstration, dubbed the "Bombabomb Andolan," was led by staunch supporters of the region's statehood movement, who accused the Maharashtra government of neglecting Vidarbha's developmental needs and failing to address long-standing regional grievances. Dozens of protesters gathered at the square around noon, raising their voices against the state government, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and the 62 Vidarbha legislators. The demonstrators claimed that the recently concluded monsoon session of the state assembly had yielded no meaningful progress on critical issues affecting the region. They highlighted the lack of concrete measures to tackle farmer suicides, the migration of unemployed youth, stalled industrial projects, and the 131 pending irrigation schemes that have plagued Vidarbha for years. Leading the agitation, Yuva Aghadi state president Mukesh Masurkar condemned the government for perpetuating a cycle of neglect. "Instead of offering solutions, the government once again deceived the people of Vidarbha," he alleged. "Funds and development opportunities rightfully belonging to the region have been diverted, while its pressing concerns continue to be ignored." Masurkar emphasized that the demand for statehood was no longer an emotional plea but a necessity to protect Vidarbha's resources and ensure region-specific planning. The protesters also criticized the elected representatives from Vidarbha, accusing them of failing to advocate for the region's interests in the state legislature.#vidarbha_rajya_andolan_samiti #mukesh_masurkar #echnath_shinde #variety_square #bombabomb_andolan
