England Women vs India Women 2026: First T20I Match Preview The upcoming 1st T20I between England and India, part of a three-match series in Chelmsford, Bristol, and Taunton, serves as crucial preparation for both teams ahead of the Women’s T20 World Cup. The match, scheduled for May 28, 2026, marks India’s return to England after their historic 3-2 series win in 2025, while England aims to refine their strategies following a prolonged break from the format. For England, the series represents an opportunity to address gaps in their squad after nearly a year without competitive T20I matches. Their last game in the format was against India in July 2025, and the absence of captain Nat Sciver-Brunt due to injury further complicated planning. However, England managed to secure a 2-1 series win against New Zealand in their most recent T20I outing. Key focus areas include integrating a new-look opening pair of Sophia Dunkley and Alice Capsey, as well as giving Dani Gibson and Freya Kemp chances to establish themselves as all-rounders. The team also hopes to showcase their fielding prowess, with three blemish-free performances expected to be a highlight. India, the reigning 50-over world champions, enters the series with a strong squad but faces challenges due to injuries to key allrounders. Despite this, they remain a formidable force, having defeated South Africa 4-1 in April and maintaining regular T20I action. The team’s experience in England is notable, with all but three players having played T20Is in the country. The inclusion of uncapped seamer Nandani Sharma, who finished as joint-leading wicket-taker in the Women’s Premier League (WPL), adds depth. India’s goal is to emulate Australia’s dual dominance in ODI and T20I formats, with Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma expected to lead the batting lineup.#bristol #india_women #england_women #chelmsford #taunton
City Locations Bring New Sherlock Series to Life Numerous iconic landmarks in a city have been transformed into the backdrop for a fresh adaptation of Sherlock Holmes. The new series, Young Sherlock, premiered on Tuesday, with its narrative primarily set in Oxford and London. However, residents of Bristol may recognize some of the locations used in the Victorian-era mystery thriller. Places like Broad Street and Underfall Yard have been incorporated to give the story its authentic setting. Deon Du Preez, the supervising location manager for Young Sherlock, highlighted the appeal of filming in Bristol. "Filming in Bristol is always good fun," he said. "The city’s got great architecture—both period and contemporary—which makes options quite exciting." He also praised the collaboration with local authorities, residents, and businesses, noting that the city’s support made the production process a pleasure. While location managers typically adapt scenes to fit existing settings, Du Preez revealed that the writers of Young Sherlock modified some scripts to better align with the chosen locations. This approach allowed the production to maximize the unique features of each site. For instance, the blacksmiths workshop at Underfall Yard, part of Bristol’s harbor side, was used for a high-energy action sequence. The site manager for Underfall Yard, Win Cnoops, emphasized the importance of filming for the area’s recovery. A significant portion of the yard was destroyed in an arson attack in 2023, and the site’s management expressed hope that film production could generate revenue to aid its restoration. "With the shed not being used, we’re missing rental income," Cnoops explained. "Filming really helps in finding additional funds.#young_sherlock #bristol #deon_dupreez #underfall_yard #shepton_mallett
