Kerala High Court Rejects CMRL's Appeal Against ED's Investigation into Financial Transactions with Vina T The Kerala High Court on Friday dismissed an appeal filed by the Cochin Minerals and Retails Limited (CMRL) against an order allowing the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to continue its investigation into financial transactions between Vina T, the daughter of former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, and the company. The court’s decision to reject CMRL’s appeal has been welcomed by both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who have raised concerns about potential corruption in the case. The case originated from allegations of financial misconduct involving Vina T’s company, Exalogy, and CMRL. BJP leader Shon George accused the company of receiving funds from CMRL without providing any services, suggesting a possible bribe. Congress MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan brought the issue to the attention of the assembly, highlighting that Exalogy, which had ceased operations, allegedly received payments from CMRL without any corresponding service. The investigation began after George filed a complaint alleging fraudulent activities. The Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) initiated an inquiry into CMRL’s financial dealings, which was later expanded by the ED to include Vina T’s transactions. The ED’s probe focused on potential money laundering linked to the financial exchanges between Vina T and CMRL. The High Court’s ruling on Friday upheld the ED’s authority to continue the investigation, rejecting CMRL’s appeal to overturn the initial order. The court’s decision allows the probe to proceed, with the possibility of uncovering further details about the alleged financial irregularities.#enforcement_directorate #kerala_high_court #pinarayi_vijayan #cochin_minerals_and_retails_limited #vina_t
