The alleged crimes are said to have occurred between July 2010 and August 2017. The Tates have consistently denied any wrongdoing. Malcolm McHaffie, head of the CPS’s Special Crime Division, stated that the new charges followed the receipt of additional evidence from Bedfordshire Police, which increased the total number of alleged victims in the case to seven. The CPS emphasized that the decision to pursue these charges was based on the evidence provided. Meanwhile, US authorities confirmed the arrests of the brothers, with the US Marshals Service informing the BBC that they were taken into custody. A spokesperson for the US Department of Justice noted that the arrests were part of extradition proceedings. The CPS has formally requested the extradition of the dual British-US citizens from the United States, where they are currently based. Their legal representative, Joseph McBride, issued a statement asserting the brothers’ innocence, claiming the new charges were a “political hit” orchestrated by their enemies.
