NDA and BJP Projected to Win Majority in Lok Sabha Elections, Survey Shows The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is projected to secure 326 seats in the Lok Sabha, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is expected to win 261 seats, according to the India Today-CVoter Mood of the Nation (MOTN) survey conducted in August 2026. These figures, released ahead of the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, indicate the NDA remains comfortably ahead of the 272-seat majority threshold required to form a government. However, the BJP’s support base has seen a decline compared to earlier projections. The August 2026 survey marks a slight drop in the NDA’s projected seat count from the January 2026 forecast of 352. The BJP’s projected 261 seats are below its earlier estimates of 287 in January and 297 in August 2025. Despite this, the BJP’s projected tally still exceeds its actual performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where it secured 240 seats out of 543. The NDA, however, won 293 seats in 2024, enabling Prime Minister Narendra Modi to retain power for a third term. The Congress party has shown significant improvement in the latest survey, projected to win 106 seats—up from 80 seats forecast in January 2026. This marks an increase from the 97 seats predicted in the August 2025 edition. Meanwhile, the INDIA bloc, a coalition of opposition parties, is projected to win 185 seats, marginally higher than the 182 seats forecast in January. This remains well below the 234 seats the opposition alliance secured in the 2024 elections. The survey highlights shifting dynamics in voter sentiment, particularly among younger demographics. The BJP faces growing challenges from Gen Z voters, who have expressed frustration over issues such as exam paper leaks and irregularities in the education system.#bjp #india_today #nda #jantar_mantar #cvoter
