Man poses as a 49ers player to defraud women, authorities say A 35-year-old man and an 18-year-old accomplice were arrested after allegedly deceiving women across multiple states through a fraudulent scheme that spanned nearly three years. Daejon Labrayae Love and Taylor Jamie Chan are accused of posing as a San Francisco 49ers player and a wealthy real estate investor to lure victims into fake investment opportunities, according to court documents and federal authorities. The scheme, which began in February 2022, targeted women in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and California, with Love and Chan allegedly defrauding victims of approximately $1.3 million. Authorities revealed that Love used dating apps to connect with potential victims, fabricating a lavish lifestyle and claiming to be a 49ers player or a high-net-worth investor. He portrayed himself as someone capable of building wealth with his victims, while Chan, described as his “investment adviser,” allegedly encouraged Love to invest in nonexistent opportunities. Love would then share fabricated screenshots of their communications with victims to convince them to send money. Court records indicate that Love created fake bank and investment accounts to make the scheme appear legitimate, further entrenching victims’ trust. The FBI alleges that Love and Chan operated the scheme through electronic communications, with Chan pretending to be Love’s financial advisor. Love would send messages to victims claiming that Chan was guiding his investments, which supposedly generated massive returns. These fabricated details, combined with the illusion of a successful financial operation, led victims to believe they were part of a legitimate venture.#california #san_francisco_49ers #daejon_labrayae_love #taylor_jamie_chan #idaho
