DC’s ‘The People v. Gorilla Grodd’ Comedy Gets HBO Max Series Order DC Studios’ comedy series The People v. Gorilla Grodd has been greenlit for a straight-to-series order on HBO Max, marking a significant expansion of the DC Universe’s narrative landscape. The project, described as an eight-part “true” crime docuseries, centers on the fictionalized trial of Gorilla Grodd, a superintelligent ape accused of murdering his father, the King of Gorilla City. The series will follow Jimmy Olsen, a character from the Superman franchise, as he reopens the case to determine whether Grodd was wrongfully convicted in one of Metropolis’ most infamous murder trials. Skyler Gisondo, known for his role as Jimmy Olsen in the Superman series, will reprise his character for the new project, while Jimmy Tatro will portray Gorilla Grodd. The cast also includes a roster of notable actors, such as Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Wendell Pierce as Perry White. Additional cast members include Mary Holland, Eduardo Franco, Arian Moayed, Dan Perrault, Andrew Leeds, and Tim Baltz. Perrault will serve as showrunner, writer, and executive producer, alongside Tony Yacenda, who will direct all episodes. The series is produced by DC Studios in collaboration with Warner Bros.
