Devotees queued for hours to catch a glimpse of the saint’s chadar, chanting "Ya Tajwale" as the procession followed the traditional route associated with the saint. Despite the massive crowd, many could not get close enough for ziyarat, the ritual of seeking blessings. The 15km Darbari Shahi Sandal procession commemorates the historic day when Baba Tajuddin was released from a Regional Mental Hospital under the patronage of the Bhonsle rulers and taken in a ceremonial procession to Tajbagh. This tradition has continued for centuries, with devotees believing that even a glimpse of the saint’s chadar brings blessings and fulfills prayers. The event has grown into one of central India’s largest Sufi gatherings, attracting followers from diverse religious, regional, and national backgrounds. Faizan Ahmed Khan, a devotee, described the enthusiasm as reminiscent of the crowds at Ajmer Sharif’s Urs, noting that trains, buses, and flights to Nagpur were packed with attendees.
