DeepSeek V4 and Tencent’s New Hunyuan Model to Launch in April Chinese tech outlet Whale Lab reported that DeepSeek V4 and a new version of Tencent’s Hunyuan model will debut in April 2026. The simultaneous release of both models marks a shift for China’s top AI labs, emphasizing practical applications and real-world deployment over benchmark competition. These models will enter a competitive domestic market where companies like Alibaba and ByteDance have already launched updated systems. Internal leaks suggest DeepSeek V4 has achieved an 83.7% score on the SWE-bench Verified test, potentially outperforming Western models such as Claude 3.5 and GPT-5 in multi-file software engineering tasks. Two unnamed models, labeled “Healer Alpha” and “Hunter Alpha,” recently appeared on the OpenRouter platform. Hunter Alpha describes itself as a trillion-parameter model with a one-million-token context window for agent workflows, while Healer Alpha is positioned as a multimodal system capable of cross-modal reasoning. However, no official entity has claimed responsibility for either model. DeepSeek has partnered with Huawei and Cambricon to optimize V4 for domestic Chinese AI chips, according to reports. The company has also collaborated with Baidu to enhance AI search capabilities. Tencent’s Hunyuan model will be led by Shunyu Yao, a former OpenAI researcher appointed as the company’s chief AI scientist in December 2025. The model contains approximately 30 billion parameters and focuses on in-context learning and agent usability, as reported by Caixin. Yao, 28, graduated from Tsinghua University’s Yao Class and contributed to AI agent frameworks like ReAct and Tree of Thoughts. He has advocated for scenario-driven applications over benchmark optimization, according to Caixin.#openrouter #deepseek_v4 #tencent_hunyuan_model #shunyu_yao #tsinghua_university
