Delhi Shahdara Fire Tragedy: 9 Killed in Suspected AC Blast A devastating fire broke out in a residential building in Shahdara, Delhi, on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of at least nine people. According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), the emergency call was received at 3:27 am, prompting the deployment of 14 fire tenders and over 80 personnel to the scene. The blaze was eventually brought under control by around 8 am after a prolonged firefighting operation. The fire reportedly spread across flats on the second, third, and fourth floors of the building. During the rescue and firefighting efforts, approximately 10–15 individuals were saved, with two of them suffering minor injuries and transported to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital for treatment. Twelve fire tenders, along with staff from the Delhi Development Authority (DDMA), traffic officials, and local police, were present at the site. A resident named Rohit provided details, stating that the AC blast initiated the fire, which began around 3:13 am. He noted that fire tenders arrived approximately 3:35 am. Authorities have confirmed that the exact cause of the blaze is still under investigation. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed her condolences on X, describing the incident as "extremely tragic" and emphasizing the loss of nine lives.
