Despite their deaths, their bank accounts continue to receive monthly payments of ₹2,000. This has resulted in significant financial losses for the government, prompting authorities to implement stricter verification measures. The state government has initiated an audit process to identify and exclude ineligible beneficiaries, ensuring that funds reach only those who are genuinely in need. The deputy chairman of the Karnataka Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority, Dinesh Gouda, emphasized that the scheme is not being suspended. Instead, the focus is on improving its efficiency by introducing a mandatory "Life Certificate" for beneficiaries. This document will verify the current status of applicants, preventing fraudulent claims and ensuring that only eligible women receive the financial aid.
