Blackhawks Recall Forward Anton Frondell from Djurgårdens IF The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have recalled forward Anton Frondell from Djurgårdens IF of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). The 18-year-old forward, selected third overall in the 2025 NHL Draft, made an immediate impact during his time with the SHL team. Over the 2025-26 season, Frondell recorded 28 points, including 20 goals and 8 assists, in 43 regular-season games. His 20 goals ranked first among all SHL rookies and team skaters, while his total points placed him second among league first-year players and fourth on Djurgårdens IF. Frondell became the fourth 18-year-old in SHL history to score at least 20 goals in a single season, joining legends like Thomas Sandstrom, Markus Naslund, and Daniel Sedin. In the SHL postseason, Frondell contributed two points, including a game-winning goal in overtime, across three playoff games. His performance earned him recognition on the international stage as well. Earlier in 2026, Frondell helped Team Sweden win a gold medal at the IIHF World Junior Championship. He tallied eight points—five goals and three assists—in seven games, finishing second among all tournament skaters and leading Sweden with five goals. He was also named Best Forward of the tournament and selected to the All-Star Team. Frondell’s NHL debut is set for tonight’s game against the New York Islanders at UBS Arena, where the Blackhawks will face the Islanders at 6:00 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on CHSN and available on WGN Radio. The 6-foot-1, 198-pound forward’s rapid rise has positioned him as a key prospect for the Blackhawks, who hope to integrate his offensive skills into their lineup.#chicago_blackhawks #anton_frondell #djurgardens_if #iihf_world_junior_championship #shl
