Following a national search and evaluation process, the Board concluded that Dr. Estrella is the leader best suited to guide the district moving forward. The selection process involved collaboration with Alma Advisory Group, a national executive search firm, to ensure transparency. The Board gathered input from thousands of students, families, educators, and community members through surveys, focus groups, and listening sessions. These insights helped define the leadership qualities sought for the role. Dr. Estrella, currently Superintendent of Norwalk Public Schools in Connecticut, brings over two decades of experience in education. She previously led Community School District Four in East Harlem, New York City, where she worked with the city’s Schools Chancellor to implement transformative initiatives focused on improving teaching, expanding student support, and enhancing outcomes. Her career began as a science teacher in Washington Heights, New York, and she later founded Esperanza Preparatory Academy, a dual-language school aimed at increasing academic opportunities and college readiness.
