Actor Vincent D'Onofrio Wears Fat Suit to Play Kingpin in Marvel Shows Vincent D'Onofrio, the actor known for his role as the Marvel villain Kingpin, recently reflected on the physical demands of the role during an interview on the "Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum" podcast. The 66-year-old actor revealed that he no longer needs to wear the heavy fat suit for his portrayal of Wilson Fisk, the crime boss, due to health considerations. "One thing is that I don’t have to have the weight on for the Marvel role anymore, which is a big deal, just for health reasons and stuff," he said. D'Onofrio described the suit as "more than heavy, it's hot and tight," covering his entire body from his ankles to his wrists. The costume, he explained, was a significant physical challenge during his time on the Marvel series. D'Onofrio first portrayed Kingpin in the 2015 Netflix series "Daredevil," where he played the character from 2015 to 2018. He later reprised the role in several episodes of "Hawkeye" and the 2023 miniseries "Echo." Most recently, he returned as Kingpin in two seasons of "Daredevil: Born Again," a continuation of the original series. The character, known for his manipulative nature and strategic mind, is depicted as a powerful crime boss in Marvel's New York City. In the latest iteration of the story, Kingpin is attempting to legitimize his criminal empire by running for mayor of the city. D'Onofrio described Wilson Fisk as a complex character, noting his ability to manipulate others and his dual nature as both a "chess player" and a "monster." "He's a very manipulative person, Wilson Fisk. He's sort of a genius at manipulating, and he's an incredible, you might say, chess player when it comes to life. And he's also a monster. And he's also a big baby," D'Onofrio told GQ in April.#daredevil #vincent_donofrio #kingpin #hawkeye #echo
