The SIR initiative follows directives from the Election Commission of India (ECI), which has mandated a phased rollout across 16 states and three union territories. Karnataka’s phase runs from June 30 to July 29, with draft electoral rolls published on August 5. Electors will have until September 4 to file claims or objections, which will be resolved by October 3. The final rolls will be released on October 7, with October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date for inclusion.
