Confirmed Ticket Cancelled? You Won't Get a Refund If You Do This. New Railways Rule Explained Indian Railways has introduced new ticket cancellation rules that will affect passengers who cancel confirmed train tickets less than eight hours before departure. The reforms, announced by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, aim to reduce last-minute cancellations and improve seat availability for other travelers. Under the new policy, refunds will no longer be available for tickets cancelled within this timeframe. The changes are structured based on how far in advance a ticket is cancelled. If a ticket is cancelled more than 72 hours before departure, passengers will receive a full refund minus a flat cancellation fee. For cancellations between 72 hours and 24 hours before the train leaves, a 25% refund of the fare will be issued, though this amount is subject to a minimum charge. Tickets cancelled between 24 and 8 hours before departure will result in a 50% refund, again with a minimum charge. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made less than 8 hours before departure or after the train has already departed. Vaishnaw also highlighted increased flexibility for passengers, allowing them to upgrade their travel class or change their boarding point up to 30 minutes before departure. Previously, such adjustments were only permitted before the reservation chart was prepared. This change is intended to provide greater convenience and adaptability for travelers. In addition to passenger-focused reforms, the Railways is modernizing its freight operations. New single-deck and double-deck wagons will be introduced to improve the transportation of goods like salt and automobiles.#indian_railways #railway_minister_aswini_vaishnaw #ticket_cancellation_rules #freight_operations_modernization #railway_construction_projects
