Suspect and Victim in Atlanta Beltline Stabbing Identified Authorities have confirmed the identity of the woman killed in a stabbing on the Atlanta Beltline and the suspect charged in connection with the incident. The victim, 23-year-old Alyssa Paige, was pronounced dead at Grady Memorial Hospital after being found stabbed near the intersection of the Beltline’s Northeast Trail and Eastside Trail. The suspect, Jahmare Brown, was arrested on Thursday and faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and possession of a knife during the commission of a felony. The attack occurred around 12:15 p.m. at 1764 Flagler Ave. NE, an address near the meeting point of the Beltline’s Northeast Trail and Eastside Trail. Police reported that they arrived at the scene to find Paige critically injured and rushed her to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her wounds. Investigators later revealed that Brown had allegedly attacked a postal employee with a rock at the Plasters Avenue NE post office earlier in the day before riding a bicycle south to the Beltline. Officers released images of the suspect, who was captured in Downtown Atlanta near 435 Peachtree St. NE after an hours-long manhunt. Brown was taken into custody and transported to Fulton County Jail. Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum stated that the suspect appeared to have targeted victims at random, emphasizing that the incident has raised concerns within the community.
